Quick verdict
Choose Notion if you enjoy building your own system, want to keep journals, budgets, research and bucket lists alongside the itinerary, need offline access in the apps, or want several people editing pages together. Notion is far more flexible than RoamerPlanner.
Choose RoamerPlanner if you want to start planning immediately: travel-specific cards for flights, hotels and activities, a day-by-day timeline with drag and drop, attachments on each plan and an invite link your companions can open on their phones — no template to maintain.

Setup time
With Notion, the first hour of planning is often spent on the planner: picking a template, deciding on database properties, setting up views. Some people love that part. With RoamerPlanner, you search for your destination, optionally add dates and start dropping in flights, hotels and plans — the structure is already there.
Travel-specific features
RoamerPlanner's activity types each come with their own fields: flights record airline, flight number, airports, terminal, gate, seat and booking reference, and work out the flight duration; hotels record check-in and check-out times, room type and a local-language address for taxi drivers; restaurants and attractions take opening-hours notes, price notes, dress codes and website links. Pasted Google Maps or Apple Maps links are recognised. In Notion you can model all of this — but you, or your template's author, have to.
Using it on the road
Notion's apps can work offline, which RoamerPlanner can't — a real advantage in places with poor signal. RoamerPlanner's strength on the road is readability: each day is a single, colour-coded timeline designed for a phone screen, and tickets sit on the activity they belong to.
Collaboration
Notion supports shared editing, and its Free plan lets you invite a limited number of external guests. RoamerPlanner's invite link lets companions see the whole trip and keep their own checklist ticks, but only the trip owner edits — great when one person plans, less so when everyone wants to contribute.

Frequently asked questions
- Is Notion good for travel planning?
- Yes, especially if you like customising your tools or want to keep research, journals and budgets in one workspace. It just takes more setup than a purpose-built planner.
- Can I import a Notion travel template into RoamerPlanner?
- No, there's no import. You would re-create the trip by hand, which is usually quick for a single itinerary.
- Which is better on a phone?
- Notion's mobile app works offline and handles any content you build. RoamerPlanner is designed around a phone-sized day timeline and works in the browser, with no offline mode.
